{"id":24220,"date":"2022-08-30T16:07:00","date_gmt":"2022-08-30T23:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/samhealth.org\/?p=24220"},"modified":"2024-12-13T12:52:56","modified_gmt":"2024-12-13T20:52:56","slug":"dignitaries-turn-ground-on-sweet-home-medical-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/samhealth.org\/news\/dignitaries-turn-ground-on-sweet-home-medical-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Dignitaries Turn Ground on Sweet Home Medical Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<article class=\"article\">\n\t<header class=\"header\">\n\t\t<span class=\"type\"><\/span>\t\t<h1>Dignitaries Turn Ground on Sweet Home Medical Center<\/h1>\t\t<time>August 30, 2022<\/time>\n\t<\/header>\n\t<div id=\"block_8518ff10d1077f5fce8108c1c5bd655e\" class=\"shs-block block-news-article entry-content\">\n\t\t<div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"acf-innerblocks-container\">\n\n<p>Samaritan Health Services leaders and local dignitaries donned yellow hard hats and turned dirt with golden shovels during a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, Aug. 29, to celebrate the start of construction of a building that will house the Sweet Home Medical Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The structure will be constructed at the corner of 49<sup>th<\/sup> Avenue and U.S. Highway 20. The 17,000 -square-foot building will house the new Samaritan Health Clinic &#8211; Sweet Home, as well as the new walk-in care and pharmacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 80 people gathered at the morning event as speakers shared the importance of filling a much-needed hole for health care in rural east Linn County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speakers at the event included <span style=\"background: white\">Marty Cahill, CEO of Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, Milton Moran Jr., Samaritan Health Services board chair, Greg Mahler, mayor of Sweet Home, Vanessa Cornwall, who spoke on behalf of U.S. Rep. Peter Defazio D-Springfield, Juliette Asuncion, medical director of Sweet Home Family Medicine, and Doug Boysen, CEO of Samaritan Health Services. <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The building is slated to be completed by fall 2023 and will include 18 family medicine exam rooms, seven walk-in care exam rooms, a laboratory, a drive-through pharmacy and helipad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/samhealth.org\/news\/samaritan-announces-plan-for-health-facilities-in-sweet-home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">See Samaritan Health Services June 2021 announcement<\/a> to enhance health care options in Sweet Home in June 2021.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The new urgent care clinic is a beneficiary&nbsp;of Samaritan&nbsp;Foundations\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/samhealth.org\/giving\/stronger-together-capital-campaign\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stronger Together<\/a> campaign which seeks to improve access to health care in the local communities Samaritan serves.
